The Bishop's Palace at St David's Cathedral
Address: St Davids Cathedral, St Davids Haverfordwest, Wales SA62 6RD
45 Min Car Journey (28.3 miles)
The Palace as it now stands was largely the work of Bishop Henry de Gower (1328-47), who built the great hall, its finest single feature. No expense was spared in creating a residence fit for a major figure of both church and state. The architecture is extravagant and the building is embellished throughout by lavish stone carvings.
The Palace lies across the river Alun about 1 minute walk from St David's Cathedral, which lies in the Southwest corner of Pembrokeshire.
