Bedd Morris is a Bronze Age standing stone that today marks the boundary of the parish of Newport. It lies at the highest point between Newport and Pontfaen. The name means “Grave of Morris”.

There are two local legends about the origins of the stone. One is that it is a warning against highway robbery following the capture and execution of a highwayman named Morris. The other is that it marks the burial place of a young man named Morris who fought, and lost, a duel with a rival for the hand of a fair maiden from Pontfaen.

There is a car park with fine views.
